Mike Gates has 30 years of experience in the telecommunications industry and has spent his career designing, implementing, and supporting a wide variety of traditional TDM, IP, and UC products. Mike has worked with rural telephone carriers, the U.S. Government, and the Department of Defense, where he drove the implementation of secure communications solutions.
Mike has been part of the REDCOM family since 1988, serving as a Systems Engineer since 1992. He has extensive knowledge of computer and telecommunications network architectures with more than 20 years of hands-on experience using different types of platforms, interfaces, and protocols. Mike has keen communication and technical writing skills, provides training to current and prospective customers, and is an expert in solving critical issues in equipment integration. As the director of solutions engineering, Mike is in charge of all of REDCOM’s solutions architects.
As a highly competent solutions architect, Mike excels when given a difficult customer situation, finding unique solutions that best serve each customer’s needs. Working at REDCOM, Mike is given a new challenge each day, and he enjoys tackling these challenges in order to find a solution. He appreciates REDCOM’s family environment where he has been able to form life-long friendships. When Mike leaves the office, he likes being outdoors, enjoys homebrewing, and spending time with his family and his dog.
