REDCOM Proudly Sponsors 2020 Virtual Pound the Ground for Veterans Outreach Center

REDCOM Laboratories, Inc., a leading supplier of the world’s most reliable communications solutions, was proud to sponsor and participate in 2020 Pound the Ground for Veterans Outreach Center (VOC) for the third year in a row. This year, to maintain social distance, the 5k walk and run took place separately, wherever the participants could get active, from August 19th through September 5thth.

Now in its 12th year, Pound the Ground supports the men, women, and families served by Veterans Outreach Center of Rochester (VOC). REDCOM Customer Engineer and U.S. Navy Veteran, Mike Crissey has run for Pound the Ground three years in a row. “Being a veteran, I like to support veteran organizations and veteran-related causes, and I’m proud to work for a company that does too. With Pound the Ground supporting the Veterans Outreach Center and local veterans, it was a natural fit for me.”

The REDCOM team, made up of employees and family members, participated in the 5k run and walk where each stride helped to benefit the VOC. “Here at REDCOM, we are proud to support the Veterans Outreach Center and their annual Pound the Ground Race. With 14% of our workforce comprised of veterans, we appreciate their dedication to REDCOM’s military customers, and their service to our country.” said REDCOM Director of Human Resources, Kara Martin.

Beyond hosting events like Pound the Ground, the VOC provides a number of free services for the benefit of Rochester area veterans. “We are so appreciative of REDCOM’s support of Veterans Outreach Center’s Pound the Ground Virtual 5K Run/Walk,” Veterans Outreach Center Executive Director and U.S. Army Veteran Laura Stradley said. “Because of the REDCOM team, VOC can continue to provide housing placement services, legal and employment services, suicide awareness and prevention support, wellness services at our Morale Center and more to thousands of veterans annually. More than 35 REDCOM team members and their families completed the 5K in support of our local heroes, got out and enjoyed the weather and turned Pound the Ground into a group effort. We are so grateful for their continued support during these challenging times.”

REDCOM receives contract from the U.S. Army’s PEO C3T for network modernization

REDCOM Laboratories, Inc., the leading supplier of advanced communications solutions for the tactical edge, has been awarded a contract for the US Army’s Program Executive Office Command, Control, Communications-Tactical (PEO C3T). The five-year contract, which is being ordered through NexTech Solutions LLC, is valued at $31.9 million and includes licenses for REDCOM® Sigma® call control software and associated support contracts.

The objective of the Army’s network modernization program is to simplify the network incrementally. To do this, the Army is adopting hardware and software that streamline network initialization and management while also increasing capabilities. This endeavor will allow the Army to establish a network that is expeditionary, mobile, hardened, and simple.

The U.S. Army selected REDCOM Sigma® for these network modernization efforts due to the software’s small footprint, intuitive interface, resilient architecture, ability to interoperate with existing devices, and simple licensing model.

REDCOM Sigma® is a software-based C2 platform designed to increase the warfighter’s operational flexibility while reducing size, weight, and power (SWaP) requirements and cutting deployment times. Sigma includes voice, video, chat, call control, conferencing, and transcoding in a single installation. Designed specifically for government and military users, REDCOM Sigma is based on open standards with a focus on interoperability, flexibility, and resiliency, and is listed on the DoDIN Approved Products List (APL).

“The U.S. Army selected REDCOM because of our flexibility as an organization. We can design, engineer, manufacture, and support our solutions in one location, and we can meet emerging requirements faster than our competitors,” said Dinah Weisberg, President & CEO, REDCOM.

REDCOM’s VP of Strategy Mike Sweeney expands on this sentiment: “By selecting REDCOM, the Army instantly improves its operational flexibility at the tactical edge and reduces its overall footprint. REDCOM solutions align to the Army’s future operating requirements, allowing them to quickly integrate new technology while maintaining support for legacy infrastructure.”

“REDCOM has a history of responsiveness to the needs of premier customers such as the U.S. Army,” said Chris Hasenauer, Chief Operating Officer, REDCOM. “We worked closely with the Army Program Office to receive requirements during early evaluations. We were able to respond quickly with software development, interoperability testing, and validation, and met every milestone set by the Program Office. This exemplifies not only our responsiveness as an organization, but also the dedication to our customers.”

The contract will see REDCOM software deployed to numerous product managers within Project Manager Tactical Networks (PM TN). Under PdM Mission Network, REDCOM Sigma® is part of the Network Integration Technical Enhancement (NITE) modernization effort that will refresh the Army’s fielded Tactical Network Transport – At-The-Halt (TNT-ATH) equipment and be received by four infantry brigade combat teams starting next year. Supporting the Army’s Capability Set 23 efforts to provide on-the-move (OTM) network connectivity to armored brigade combat teams (ABCTs) REDCOM Sigma is included in the Tactical Network Transport – On-The-Move (TNT-OTM) prototype integrated into ABCTs and OTM configurations integrated on a variety of tactical vehicles.

Under Product Manager Network Modernization, REDCOM Sigma will support and modernize Enroute Mission Command (EMC), Commercial Coalition Equipment (CCE), and Disaster Incident Response Emergency Communications Terminal (DIRECT) equipment. Finally, as part of the Army’s capability set 21 modernization efforts and following the Expeditionary Signal Battalion – Enhanced (ESB-E) pilot this contract will see REDCOM Sigma included in the equipment package to the service’s ESBs with three expeditionary signal battalions currently slated to receive CS 21 enabling capability.

REDCOM HDX and SLICE® product families recertified by DoD’s Joint Interoperability Test Command

REDCOM, a leading provider of advanced tactical and strategic communications solutions, announced today that its HDX and SLICE® product family have been officially recertified by the Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) and placed on the Department of Defense Information Network Approved Products List (APL). The REDCOM HDX and SLICE have been listed on the APL for more than a dozen years. This latest validation demonstrates REDCOM’s commitment to building and supporting a robust portfolio of proven military-grade products.

HDX V4.0AR5P3 and SLICE® V4.0AR5P3 have been carefully evaluated for Cyber Security (CS) and Interoperable (I/O) communications and are approved as Local Session Controllers (LSC). Both products deliver powerful capabilities highly relevant to the military, including support for the Assured Services Session Initiation Protocol (AS-SIP), IPv4/IPv6 dual stack, Multi-Level Precedence and Preemption (MLPP), conferencing, and secure communications.

HDX and SLICE® are REDCOM’s hybrid hardware platforms that enable seamless interoperability between IP, TDM, and radio networks. Both products can function as a stand-alone Local Session Controller (LSC) or as an adjunct to an existing Enterprise Session Controller (ESC) to deliver advanced voice services such as transcoding and conferencing for red and black networks.

REDCOM’s JITC-approved products deliver military-grade resiliency designed for deployments to the tactical edge. All REDCOM technology is based on open SIP standards, which eliminates proprietary endpoints and applications.

The contract will be primed by Base Camp Connect, one of Canada’s leading suppliers of communications systems. REDCOM expects an additional $4M through 2024 for supplementary equipment and support and maintenance services.

REDCOM donates software and services to help Monroe County respond to COVID-19 emergency

REDCOM Laboratories, Inc. has loaned its secure conferencing solution and professional services to the Monroe County Office of Emergency Management to help enhance communications during the COVID-19 crisis.

As the county tries to limit the number of people on-site, the need for real-time communication and conferencing tools has increased dramatically. The county’s existing conferencing solution presented several ease-of-use challenges, especially as the number of participants increased. Notably, there was no visual means of monitoring or controlling each conference. Automated announcements would constantly interrupt conversations whenever a user entered or left, and conference organizers had no way to mute individual attendees. Clearly, these technical challenges made it difficult to coordinate resources during an emergency scenario.

Derwin and Dave setting up Sigma

REDCOM’s Derwin Melendez-Diaz and Dave Conover set up the REDCOM Sigma Conference Manager at the Monroe County Emergency Management Offices.

REDCOM quickly took action, deploying three of the company’s experts to consult with the county. With the county’s technical staff already busy managing other emergencies, REDCOM donated its team and professional services in order to get REDCOM Conference Manager — a part of REDCOM Sigma® call control software — installed and running on the county’s servers within hours.

“The REDCOM conferencing system is allowing us to focus on the content of the conversation and managing the emergency without interruptions or distractions,” said Tim Kohlmeier, Deputy Public Safety Director and Emergency Manager, Office of Emergency Management. “We’re impressed by how quickly the REDCOM system was set up and how easy it is to use.”

By leveraging the REDCOM Conference Manager, county officials now have a visual overview of all conference attendees, viewable from a web browser. The conference organizer can manually mute participants with loud background noise, and even has the ability to join/split conferences or initiate a conference with a single click. The system will remain in operation at least through the duration of the COVID-19 crisis.

About the Monroe County Office of Emergency Management

As the County Executive’s Emergency Manager, the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) maintains and administers an integrated Emergency Management program designed to assure a safe environment through prevention/mitigation, readiness, response, and recovery. The OEM plans and coordinates with government and non-government agencies for rapid response in an emergency, and assists towns and villages in the preparation of their emergency response plans.

REDCOM Laboratories, Inc. wins 2020 Rochester Top Workplace Award

REDCOM Laboratories, Inc. is proud to announce that the company has been awarded a Top Workplaces 2020 honor by The Democrat and Chronicle. The list is based solely on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey administered by employee engagement technology partner Energage, LLC. The anonymous survey uniquely measures 15 drivers of engaged cultures that are critical to the success of any organization, including alignment, execution, and connection, just to name a few.

“I am honored that REDCOM has been recognized as a Top Workplace in Rochester,” said Dinah Weisberg, President and CEO, REDCOM. “I truly believe that we have the greatest group of employees working here. I’m proud of the culture and work ethic we’ve built, and in my mind, it’s only going to get better from here.”

Mrs. Weisberg continues, “REDCOM has actually been a part of the Rochester community for 42 years, but we often flew under the radar intentionally. That’s all changing now. We have several major opportunities in the pipeline, and we anticipate substantial growth over the next few years. Expect to see a lot more of REDCOM in the news.”

“In times of great change, it is more important than ever to maintain a connection among employees,” said Eric Rubino, Energage CEO. “When you give your employees a voice, you come together to navigate challenges and shape your path forward based on real-time insights into what works best for your organization. The Top Workplaces program can be that positive outcome your company can rally around in the coming months to celebrate leadership and the importance of maintaining an employee-focused culture, even during challenging times.”

REDCOM’s mission centers around enabling the most important conversations in the world for customers that include all branches of the military, government agencies, first responders, and telecom service providers. In a complex and competitive industry, REDCOM stands out from other communications companies by focusing on a refined set of functions that are integral to mission security.

“No one builds products with the level of interoperability, reliability, and ease of use that REDCOM does,” said Weisberg. “This challenge of meeting — and exceeding — customer requirements is what motivates the team here at REDCOM every day.”

REDCOM was founded in 1978 in Penfield, NY. In less than a decade, the company expanded so rapidly that it built a brand-new facility on a 40-acre campus in Victor, NY, which REDCOM still occupies today. The entrepreneurial roots from REDCOM’s early days continue to drive the company’s culture today. All employees are empowered to work autonomously and are afforded the power to drive change within the company and its products.

“What makes the culture here so special is that it’s a family business. It’s not only my family’s business, but we’ve always treated our employees like extended members of the family,” said Weisberg. “Our support of the individual and our drive to make the individual succeed is what ultimately makes the whole organization perform at its best.”

The complete list of Rochester Top Workplace winners can be viewed on the Democrat & Chronicle website.
