Innovation is our name
REDCOM stands for Research, Engineering & Development in Communications — it’s exactly what drives us. For decades, we’ve focused on advancing innovation in communications and ensuring mission success in the most demanding environments. Our R&D efforts are rooted in one goal: to deliver reliable, adaptable, and secure communications technology that supports the mission when it matters most.
The importance of R&D
In a world where technology moves fast, research & development keeps REDCOM ahead of the fight. Our dedicated in-house team explores new approaches to interoperability, resiliency, and command-and-control communications, ensuring our products evolve in step with emerging defense requirements.
From rapid prototyping to long-term technology development, our R&D efforts help defense, government, and industry partners modernize their communications and strengthen operational readiness.
Small team. Big impact.
Our nimble, U.S.-based team in New York State has the flexibility to move quickly and deliver results. With in-house engineering and manufacturing capabilities, we can design, prototype, and deploy new solutions without the long lead times or bureaucracy of larger organizations. This agility allows REDCOM to take on special projects with partners, integration work, or one-of-a-kind communication challenges — and bring them from concept to reality faster.
Built for collaboration
REDCOM’s R&D group thrives on solving complex, multi-domain problems. Whether it’s integrating voice, video, and data systems for coalition interoperability, working with you to develop custom interfaces through our open API, or working alongside other technology partners to bridge communications gaps, collaboration is at the core of what we do. We’ve worked with industry leaders, defense programs, and government agencies to co-develop solutions that extend capability and simplify operations across.
Tailored innovation for Army network modernization
REDCOM rapidly translated evolving requirements into reliable, field-ready call-control technology, delivering new features and interoperability improvements on tight timelines. By outperforming larger vendors and streamlining multiple functions into a lightweight platform, REDCOM helped advance the Army’s shift toward a simpler, more agile modern network.
LEARN MORE
When selected as the call-control solution for the Army’s network modernization programs, REDCOM worked hand-in-hand with program offices and integrators to translate evolving requirements into field-ready technology. Whether enhancing interoperability with legacy equipment or building new features into REDCOM Sigma, our teams delivered quickly, often on aggressive monthly release cycles, while maintaining the reliability and security demanded by military environments.
What set this collaboration apart was REDCOM’s ability to accomplish what larger vendors couldn’t or wouldn’t do within the required timelines. We rapidly produced new features, supported complex validation and interoperability testing, and streamlined the Army’s comms by converging multiple functions into a single, lightweight software platform.
REDCOM consistently delivered on schedule and under budget, enabling the Army to move closer to its goal of a simplified, agile, and modern tactical network. This work demonstrates exactly what REDCOM R&D is built for: rapid innovation, close customer collaboration, and mission-focused solutions that make a real impact in the field.
Agile R&D for air-ground communications
REDCOM rapidly turned urgent integration needs into a durable, interoperable solution, connecting airborne radios seamlessly with the Sigma XRI platform. By moving from concept to prototype on an accelerated timeline, the team delivered a purpose-built capability that met tight program demands.
LEARN MORE
Working closely with program stakeholders, our engineering teams translated urgent operational needs: seamless integration with the Collins ARC-210 and AR-1500 radios, which are primarily used on military aircraft. Despite tight deadlines driven by early prototype installs, we delivered quickly while maintaining the durability and interoperability required for airborne and tactical environments.
What distinguished this effort was REDCOM’s ability to execute — moving from concept to prototype on an accelerated timeline, ensuring seamless interoperability with Sigma XRI, and positioning production to meet program timelines. The result is a purpose-built solution that enables airborne radio crossbanding with the REDCOM Sigma XRI platform.
