REDCOM to modernize manufacturing facility with investment from Empire State Development

May 14, 2019

REDCOM Laboratories, Inc., a leading provider of advanced communications solutions, is pleased to announce that it has received funding from Empire State Development (ESD) through the Excelsior Jobs Tax Credit Program to grow its operations in the Town of Victor, Ontario County. REDCOM specializes in the development of communications hardware and software for commercial, military, and government applications. The company is updating its manufacturing facility to meet an increase in customer demand in its contract manufacturing business unit, REDCOM EMS. As a result of this growth, REDCOM is planning to create up to 21 new jobs at the company’s Victor headquarters over the next five years.

REDCOM Vice President of Manufacturing, and leader of the REDCOM EMS team, Steve Husband said, “We’ve been seeing sustained double-digit growth in the last few years, and this investment allows us to meet the customer demands of today while balancing the needs of tomorrow. With the addition of new equipment and capabilities, as well as our upcoming Aerospace and Medical certifications, we’ll be able to reach new markets, increase production volumes, and continue to develop our workforce. With the commitment of the REDCOM organization, and the assistance of our local, state, and federal agencies, we were able to make this a reality. We look forward to continued success as we establish ourselves as a preferred US-based electronic manufacturing service provider.”

Empire State Development President, CEO, and Commissioner Howard Zemsky said, “New York State’s strategic investments in workforce and innovation are reflected in REDCOM Laboratories’ plans to expand in the Finger Lakes where this family-owned communications company will continue to produce innovative products and bring new opportunities to Ontario County.”

ESD will facilitate this growth with up to $300,000 – funding that will be used toward the company’s modernization project and the purchase of new surface mount technology equipment. This equipment has higher capacity circuit board printing and component assembly capabilities to better meet customer demands.

“REDCOM is still going strong after more than 40 years in business in the Greater Rochester area,” said REDCOM CEO Dinah Weisberg. “We are excited about the growth we see for our business, and we look forward to contributing to the upstate NY economy as we expand our local electronics manufacturing capabilities and the development of our workforce. Our commitment to quality is embodied in our ISO 9001:2015 certification and will be strengthened this year with the addition of AS9100D and ISO 13485 certifications. The future for REDCOM and upstate New York is very bright.”
