EspañolREDCOM Laboratories, Inc., a leading supplier of the world’s most reliable communications solutions, was proud to sponsor and participate in 2020 Pound the Ground for Veterans Outreach Center (VOC) for the third year in a row. This year, to maintain social distance, the 5k walk and run took place separately, wherever the participants could get active, from August 19th through September 5thth.
Now in its 12th year, Pound the Ground supports the men, women, and families served by Veterans Outreach Center of Rochester (VOC). REDCOM Customer Engineer and U.S. Navy Veteran, Mike Crissey has run for Pound the Ground three years in a row. “Being a veteran, I like to support veteran organizations and veteran-related causes, and I’m proud to work for a company that does too. With Pound the Ground supporting the Veterans Outreach Center and local veterans, it was a natural fit for me.”
The REDCOM team, made up of employees and family members, participated in the 5k run and walk where each stride helped to benefit the VOC. “Here at REDCOM, we are proud to support the Veterans Outreach Center and their annual Pound the Ground Race. With 14% of our workforce comprised of veterans, we appreciate their dedication to REDCOM’s military customers, and their service to our country.” said REDCOM Director of Human Resources, Kara Martin.
Beyond hosting events like Pound the Ground, the VOC provides a number of free services for the benefit of Rochester area veterans. “We are so appreciative of REDCOM’s support of Veterans Outreach Center’s Pound the Ground Virtual 5K Run/Walk,” Veterans Outreach Center Executive Director and U.S. Army Veteran Laura Stradley said. “Because of the REDCOM team, VOC can continue to provide housing placement services, legal and employment services, suicide awareness and prevention support, wellness services at our Morale Center and more to thousands of veterans annually. More than 35 REDCOM team members and their families completed the 5K in support of our local heroes, got out and enjoyed the weather and turned Pound the Ground into a group effort. We are so grateful for their continued support during these challenging times.”
