The Marine Corps always adapts itself to any mission the United States requests of it. This means that unit commanders and front line warfighters in the USMC and MAGTF (Marine Air Ground Task Force) must be ready for a fight in any environment, from distributed inland operations to the littorals.
In line with these operational concepts, REDCOM presents Sigma® XRI-400, a full-featured C2 platform that delivers voice, video, chat, and radio interoperability in a single box. REDCOM Sigma XRI-400 consists of a small form factor purpose-built platform with four radio ports, all powered by REDCOM’s flagship Sigma C2 software. This solution delivers the following key benefits to the Marine Corps:
REDCOM Sigma® Software:
- C2 software platform with voice, video, and chat
- Easy to use: intuitive UI reduces training and ramp-up time
- Built-in conferencing engine brings together any endpoint
- On the DoDIN Approved Products List
- Engineered to today’s cybersecurity standards including FIPS 140-2
REDCOM Sigma® XRI:
- Low SWaP small form factor C2 platform for distributed expeditionary operations
- Solves Coalition and Joint interoperability challenges
- Enables stand-alone comms in DIL environments

Command & Control
Unit leaders need access to a command and control suite that provides consistent access to mission-critical information in order to maintain continuity of operations, maneuverability, and superiority within the battlespace. REDCOM Sigma XRI-400 is designed to maintain situational awareness for troop and equipment maneuverability in any contested environment via any means. Even better, this stand-alone C2 solution can easily be deployed in less than 10 minutes.
Going from one littoral to another is a challenging effort. Sustaining lines of communication while on the move is imperative to the success of Marines in any domain. They need to be well-equipped without getting bogged down by gear. The small form factor, robust design, and low-power requirements of the REDCOM Sigma XRI-400 means it can be deployed to the tactical edge in a backpack, on a vehicle, or on aerial assets. This becomes particularly important in both forward-deployed scenarios where resources are limited and Marines must be as light as possible, and on-board U.S. Naval vessels for fleet operations where electricity and space are budgeted.
Working with Non-Government Organizations (NGO), Joint, and/or Coalition forces presents unique challenges due to the varying signal and communications paths employed by each entity. By connecting up to four donor radios directly to the XRI-400, the USMC can instantly bridge the gap between disparate radio networks, endpoints, or frequencies, allowing for seamless communications between Joint and Coalition forces. Additionally, Sigma XRI-400 allows radio users to communicate directly with users on any SIP end device (e.g. SATCOM, VoIP phones) and can even participate in voice conferences.
Tactical Interoperability with REDCOM Sigma® XRI-400
A single Sigma XRI-400 unit can bring together radios and IP devices from disparate networks, allowing for seamless comms between the Army, Joint, and Coalition forces.
REDCOM Sigma XRI-400 helps the Marine Corps leverage multiple types of communications lines, especially critical in Disconnected, Intermittent, Limited bandwidth (DIL) environments. If one line of communication is compromised, the next down the line can be used from IP to Wi-Fi, LTE, SATCOM, UHF, VHF, HF, and software-defined radios (SDR).
Ease of Use
Usability is imperative to the Marines, whether they are at the tactical edge or in a network operations center environment. REDCOM Sigma’s graphical user interface (GUI) is intuitive and easy to use. Incidental users or administrators can be trained in minutes. This allows the Marine Corps to further improve their force design by allowing for smaller geographically dispersed teams that do not require Marine communicators (06xx) or FSE/FSR’s.
Rapid Set up and Tear down
Designed for shoot, move, communicate operations, Sigma XRI-400 was developed to be resilient to hard shutdowns and power up in under a minute. The flexible nature of REDCOM Sigma XRI-400 also allows for the use of various mediums in order to pass mission-critical information to any user. Communications can be fully operational within minutes, enabling Marines to secure a tactical advantage by maintaining mobility at all times.
Because REDCOM Sigma XRI-400 is a low-SWaP, small form factor device weighing just three pounds, the USMC can maintain communications on-the-move, whether that be on foot or mobile patrol for the GCE, Air Support for the ACE, or even a supply run by the MLG or CE.
