Kal Baumwart works with REDCOM’s Business Development team to research and seek out new customers and areas of business for the company. Previously as well as within his current role, Kal works closely with the REDCOM research, development, and operations teams to help create solutions for customers in many of REDCOM’s verticals. Kal joined REDCOM in 2018, where he initially focused on public safety and military markets, developing RF interop solutions. Kal studied in the humanities, business, and social sciences, earning Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts, and Masters Degrees from the University of Kansas. He occasionally attends the Rochester Institute of Technology, taking classes in management and ethics.
With a strong history in product management, Kal is a vital asset to REDCOM because of his ability to speak with the voice of the customer, translating complex product requirements into comprehensible and tangible solutions. He has a decades-long history in data telecommunications for carrier, international consumer, and public safety markets. Prior to coming to REDCOM, he worked in RF at Harris for seven years, where he was responsible for making the entire public safety product set available worldwide. He led the development of a factory in Brazil to produce Harris radios for the Latin American market and drove specific upgrades to products for Latin America, Australia, and the Middle East. He also managed vendors in the Accessories supply chain, searching for better batteries, more rugged handheld microphones, and wearable IoT health and safety devices.
Kal also worked as the Senior Product Manager for Global Crossing – now Century Link – where he worked with IP, VPN, and VoIP solutions. He also worked at Sprint International with a variety of consumer voice products. Through this array of relevant experiences, Kal brings a deep understanding of communications technology to his role at REDCOM.
Kal enjoys his current role at REDCOM, where he is instrumental in investigating further opportunities with existing customers while finding ways to develop new relationships as well. Kal considers himself a true geek. In his spare time, he enjoys tinkering with Raspberry Pi projects, welding, and woodworking.
