DCS Modernizes Clarksville Mutual Telephone Company Network with REDCOM HDX Switching System

Rural Illinois Service Provider Now Has Switch Capable of Providing Next Generation Services

DCSVictor, New York (May 11, 2009) – REDCOM Laboratories Inc., a company that designs and manufactures the world’s most reliable digital and IP-enabled telecommunications systems, announced today that Digital Communications Services (DCS) has installed a REDCOM High Density Exchange (HDX) switch for Clarksville Mutual Telephone Company in Marshall, Illinois.

dcsThe installation of the HDX switching system by DCS in Clarksville Mutual Telephone’s central office will enable the company in the future to offer Next Generation Network services to their subscribers. The HDX is a powerful, next-generation Class 4/5 softswitch that works as a cost-effective adjunct/overlay on an existing network. Based on REDCOM’s patented distributed architecture, the HDX is scalable, stackable and minimizes the risk of single point failures as it distributes resources system-wide and network-wide, using multiple points of direct access.

“We design, develop, deliver and support state-of-the-art switching products for the global telecommunication industry that adhere to industry standards and REDCOM’s HDX switch was the perfect choice and right technology for Clarksville Mutual Telephone,” said Ted Snedeker, President of DCS. “The HDX switching system was the most economical and cost-effective solution for Clarksville Mutual Telephone to meet their needs today and with the opportunity for them to migrate to Next Generation services when it makes sense for their business.”

REDCOM’s Maintenance Administration and User Interface (MAUI) provides Clarksville Mutual Telephone with an intuitive Graphical User Interface (GUI) that simplifies the configuration and maintenance of their new HDX switch.  With MAUI, the company now has a user-friendly graphic overview of their entire telecommunications system. In addition, MAUI’s “configuration wizard” allows the rural telecom service provider to quickly and easily add new lines.

Thanks to their new HDX switch, Clarksville Mutual Telephone is also now compliant with the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA). The company’s previous switch was not in compliance with CALEA. Congress enacted CALEA to preserve the ability of law enforcement agencies to conduct lawful electronic surveillance by requiring the telecommunications service providers and equipment manufacturers to modify and design their equipment, facilities, and services to ensure they allow for the necessary surveillance.
