REDCOM unveils new SLICE® IP Command & Control: An advanced IP Communication Core

The SLICE IP is an advanced IP communication core powered by TRANSip®, REDCOM’s VoIP technology suite that provides an innovative IP communication solution. TRANSip integrates key IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) elements, delivering call management functionality while offering call setup, control, termination, and directory services for IP subscribers through the industry standard architecture, Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), for seamless interoperability in one single platform.
The SLICE IP offers features and interoperability highlighted as follows:
- SIP-based VoIP capabilities – up to 2,000 SIP subscribers (per unit)
- SIP trunks & built-in compression – to manage bandwidth usage
- External Database Interface – enhancing administration support
- Host Control Interface – for additional call management capabilities
- SNMP monitoring
- MLPP – for priority and preemption
- AS-SIP – for resource priorities, ensuring system and network access and control
- Modem over IP (V.150.1) – for secure end instrument interoperability
- Fax over IP (T.38) – for end instrument interoperability
- Voice Mail System Interface – a flexible interface to an external voice mail device
- Secure Socket Layer (SSL)/Transport Layer Security (TLS) – for a common encryption layer
The SLICE IP’s advanced standards-based IP trunk features withbuilt-in, flexible IP compression methods help warfighters manage and reduce IP SATCOM bandwidth consumed in IP-based voice communications. Considerable SATCOM bandwidth can be saved during modem-driven secure voice conversations by using SLICE IP’s integrated V.150.1 standard.
The SLICE IP provides a Multi-Level Precedence and Preemption (MLPP) software capability for end-to-end warfighter communications. This essential element of command and control (C2) ensures that the most important calls are delivered to the end location and warfighter.
The SLICE IP is scalable and flexible for future growth. This scalability allows the SLICE IP to be stacked with another SLICE IP, increasing the subscriber base up to 4,000 per node. Its interoperable flexibility also allows the SLICE IP to be stacked with REDCOM’s flagship SLICE® 2100™ system when access to TDM or legacy protocols are needed.
The SLICE IP can be custom-configured for multiple government and defense applications including tactical, strategic and secure applications. The SLICE IP Command & Control is ideal for rapid emergency mobile deployment applications such as: police, fire, military, emergency response, and air traffic control networks. Special emergency configurations are available in durable portable containers (rack-packs).
