REDCOM Gateway Exchange (IGX)

The REDCOM Gateway Exchange (IGX) is a field-proven platform for private network switching. The IGX can be configured for a range of applications from large permanently installed systems to portable tactical packages. Special variations of the IGX include:

  • The REDCOM Gateway Exchange for Command & Control (IGX·C) with special features for government and defense applications
  • The REDCOM Gateway Exchange Multi-Tenant Application (IGX·MT) is a turn-key package especially easy to deploy
The IGX•MT includes the IGX plus voice mail system, battery backup, and an advanced set of calling features in one convenient package.
  • The REDCOM Gateway Exchange Adjunct (IGX·A) is an ISDN adjunct.

Benefits

Scalable. With the IGX, you only pay for the capacity you need when you need it. The IGX is cost-effective from over 10,000 ports down to 32 ports. Additional benefits of the IGX's distributed architecture include:

  • Minimal Installation Effort with other equipment via standard connectors and industry standard circuit interfaces.
  • Easily Expandable to add capacity at a single site; you simply add IGX shelves and connect them with ribbon cables.
  • REDCOM ClusterNet™ Technology allows true unification of multiple IGX sites, or a single IGX site to have multiple, strategic equipment locales. Users enjoy the unparalleled survivability of a fully distributed system, with the convenience of centralized administration.

Reliable. The IGX's reliability results from its distributed architecture, which eliminates single point failures. Other distributed design benefits our customers enjoy:

  • No Central Control Function to Fail. Each of the IGX's modular shelves has its own processor. This unique design gives you field proven performance. And you don't pay up front for capacity needed later.
  • No Fans or Filters are Required. There are no fans to fail or filters to clog. Yet the IGX is rated for operation in 0° to 50° Celsius.

  Selected Features
  • Computer Telephony Integration (CTI) in the IGX allows access for a host computer to assert call control commands in response to IGX port/state messages. Using this capability, the IGX owner can develop custom applications, including line and trunk protocols, to suit their unique requirements. For self-hosted applications, an optional BASIC language interpreter is available with many language extensions and debugging capabilities.
  • Flexible Translator gives you a full-featured call translator and protocol construction capabilities.
  • ISDN Primary and Basic Rate Interfaces supporting multiple protocols at network and user ends; 2 wire U and 4 wire S interfaces are supported.
  • T1/E1 Direct Digital Interface
  • Standard Analog Trunks and Lines with comprehensive options available to meet diverse domestic and international requirements.
  • Inter-register Signaling with table-driven architecture adapts to unique country variations.
  • Signaling System No. 7 (SS7/C7) with US SS7 and ITU-C7 support. Includes fully redundant signaling links and tandem trunking. The IGX's SS7/C7 is engineered to industry standards and protocols.
  • PCM Companding Law Options (A-law or µ-255 law) with optional companding law conversion (International Gateway Access Transit Exchange (IGATE™)).
  • Wireless includes both simplex and duplex, integrated manual Push-To-Talk and automated VOX. Also supports standard cellular interfaces.
  • Low Maintenance Requirements means no need for periodic routine maintenance. Diagnostics are remote or on-site. Repair is simplified by board-level replacement.
