REDCOM’s employees have a wide cross-section of skills and education in engineering and non-engineering disciplines. Some of the areas for which we staff include:

  • Engineering – Electrical engineers, real time control software engineers, with C and/or Java experience, and IT software engineers. Telephony, IP, and network knowledge or educational specialization is highly desirable. While REDCOM provides a dynamic, structured environment to ensure high productivity, it also gives substantial freedom to engineers to use and build their skills and knowledge.
  • Sales – We sell direct, with our own direct sales staff and sales support staff. This includes technical requirements analysis, quotation, order entry, customer database customization, and customer technical support and training. Positions are staffed by salespersons, engineers and technicians. Education and experience requirements vary depending upon the position.
  • Manufacturing – REDCOM builds its own circuit boards and systems. REDCOM circuit boards use surface mount technologies. Positions include test engineering, manufacturing process design, board assembly/testing, system assembly/testing, as well as shipping and receiving. Education requirements vary, depending on job requirements. We cross-train our manufacturing employees, creating a flexible workforce able to meet changing demands, which greatly increases job diversity and satisfaction.
  • Facilities – We are proud of our office and manufacturing facilities. Maintenance and housekeeping activities are provided by our own facilities and grounds staff. They are an integral and valued part of our operation.
  • Administration – REDCOM administration staff handles purchasing, quality control, and a variety of other administrative activities. We have our own internal accounting staff for all necessary corporate activities. Dedicated IT servers equip them with the necessary tools, fully integrated with the rest of our corporate activities and systems. Education and experience requirements vary depending upon position.

State of the Art Facility

REDCOM’s workforce enjoys a comfortable, well maintained office and manufacturing facility. This 140,000 square foot facility is located on forty acres in suburban Victor, New York. Our manufacturing floor is built around a large, treed atrium. We have a health facility open to all employees, with two racquetball courts, exercise/workout equipment, saunas, and a large Jacuzzi. There is even an equipped radio shack for Ham radio operators. The grounds include walking paths through wooded areas.

Rochester and Upstate New York

Located near Rochester, New York, Victor is within driving distance of the Finger Lakes, Lake Ontario, Niagara Falls, the Adirondack Mountains, and the Catskill Mountains. Senior Staff Software Engineer – Applications

Essential Functions

  • Guides the product definition, design and development activities across the full range of REDCOM products with a concentration on Mobile and Desktop applications. This includes contributing at a design and code level to software engineering efforts.
  • Produces, and is accountable for, schedules and budgets for assigned product development activities based on resources, work estimates, and business needs.
  • Develops functional requirements based on high level requirements and feature descriptions as specified by Product Management and Sales.
  • Directs assigned product team members in daily activities – defines and assigns tasks, resolves issues, tracks progress, holds resources accountable to dates, and provides mentoring/coaching.
  • Writes performance reviews and conducts regular career goal meetings for assigned team members as per established policies.
  • Coordinates group efforts with other departments and functions including, but not limited to, Product Management, Product Validation, Sales, Customer Service, and IT.
  • Investigates and evaluates evolving technologies and methodologies and applies them within the product development team.

    Knowledge & Skills Required

    • Knowledge (education and training):
      • BS or higher in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
      • Fifteen (15) or more years of professional experience in Software Engineering
      • Demonstrated experience leading development teams of varying size through the full software development product lifecycle culminating in a successful product launch delivered on time and within budget.
    • Critical Skills:
      • Strong technical acumen and practical experience developing application software solutions, preferably for telecommunications.
      • Staying current on relevant industry and technology trends.
      • Ability to motivate teams to produce quality products on time and within budget, while simultaneously managing multiple projects.
      • Knowledge of standard business and management processes and concepts.
      • In-depth knowledge and experience with the full software development product lifecycle to develop and implement best practices.
      • Expert level knowledge in one or more of the following: Android, iOS or Windows application development using Java, Swift, C, C++, C#, or Objective C
      • Extensive knowledge and experience with Project Management (i.e. MS Project or equivalent), Productivity (i.e. MS Office or equivalent), Software Configuration Management (i.e. SVN, Mercurial, or equivalent) and Bug Tracking (i.e. Mantis, Jira, or equivalent) software packages.

    Other Duties

    • Collaborates with team members in design and code reviews of work products
    • Participates in customer problem resolution as required by Customer Service and Product Support Engineering
    • Suggests improvements to software, processes, and procedures within the Engineering organization
    • Be a thought leader by contributing to content marketing with short or longer form custom content pieces (i.e., blog articles and whitepapers)

    Software Engineering Co-Op

    Job Description

    Software Product development for REDCOM Sigma UC software and applications. Under the guidance of a senior developer, the expectation is to execute the following:

    1. Software feature and fix development
    2. Develop and maintain software utilities and tools
    3. Develop and maintain unit tests

    Qualifications/Requirements

    • Knowledge of Windows, Android, or iOS application development required
    • Knowledge of Voice over IP (VoIP) desired
    • Any telephony background is a plus
    • 2 consecutive co-op blocks (preferred)
    • Willingness to learn
    • GPA: 3.0 +
    • Matriculated into one of the following degrees:
      • Software Engineering
      • Computer Science
      • Web & Mobile Computing
      • Computer Security

    Product Inter-Operability Test Co-Op

    Job Description

    To conduct inter-operability testing with REDCOM products and 3rd party equipment / applications. Under the guidance of a senior level test technician, the expectation is to execute the following:

    1. To review and understand provided test plans
    2. Configure systems under test (SUTs)
    3. Execute test plans
    4. Develop testing mechanisms (including scripting and automation)
    5. Report results (Written and Verbal)

    Qualifications/Requirements

    • Background in computing networks, including familiarity with routing and switching
    • Knowledge of Voice over IP (VoIP)
    • Familiarity with OS / Databases
    • Any telephony background is a plus
    • 2 consecutive co-op blocks (preferred)

        Regional Sales Manager

        We’re searching for a Regional Sales Manager with a telecommunications background.

        • Does the opportunity to build up a base of business with an established product set motivate you?

        If these are must-haves, then here is what we are asking of you…

        Develop new sales accounts and deliver incremental revenue from existing accounts within the assigned territory. Assist customers with the configuration of REDCOM systems to supply input for the generation of a proposal. Keep informed on industry news and trends, products, services, competitors, as well as relevant information about legacy, existing, and emerging technologies.

        The required knowledge and background for this position would typically be possessed by a person with at least five years’ recent experience in B2B telecommunications sales. The ability to travel domestically and internationally, up to 40%, without restriction. Also, a demonstrated work history of consistently meeting or exceeding assigned sales quotas and legal authorization to work in the US are a must.
