REDCOM’s employees have a wide cross-section of skills and education in engineering and non-engineering disciplines. Some of the areas for which we staff include:

  • Engineering – Electrical engineers, real time control software engineers, with C and/or Java experience, and IT software engineers. Telephony, IP, and network knowledge or educational specialization is highly desirable. While REDCOM provides a dynamic, structured environment to ensure high productivity, it also gives substantial freedom to engineers to use and build their skills and knowledge.
  • Sales – We sell direct, with our own direct sales staff and sales support staff. This includes technical requirements analysis, quotation, order entry, customer database customization, and customer technical support and training. Positions are staffed by salespersons, engineers and technicians. Education and experience requirements vary depending upon the position.
  • Manufacturing – REDCOM builds its own circuit boards and systems. REDCOM circuit boards use surface mount technologies. Positions include test engineering, manufacturing process design, board assembly/testing, system assembly/testing, as well as shipping and receiving. Education requirements vary, depending on job requirements. We cross-train our manufacturing employees, creating a flexible workforce able to meet changing demands, which greatly increases job diversity and satisfaction.
  • Facilities – We are proud of our office and manufacturing facilities. Maintenance and housekeeping activities are provided by our own facilities and grounds staff. They are an integral and valued part of our operation.
  • Administration – REDCOM administration staff handles purchasing, quality control, and a variety of other administrative activities. We have our own internal accounting staff for all necessary corporate activities. Dedicated IT servers equip them with the necessary tools, fully integrated with the rest of our corporate activities and systems. Education and experience requirements vary depending upon position.

State of the Art Facility

REDCOM’s workforce enjoys a comfortable, well maintained office and manufacturing facility. This 140,000 square foot facility is located on forty acres in suburban Victor, New York. Our manufacturing floor is built around a large, treed atrium. We have a health facility open to all employees, with two racquetball courts, exercise/workout equipment, saunas, and a large Jacuzzi. There is even an equipped radio shack for Ham radio operators. The grounds include walking paths through wooded areas.

Rochester and Upstate New York

Located near Rochester, New York, Victor is within driving distance of the Finger Lakes, Lake Ontario, Niagara Falls, the Adirondack Mountains, and the Catskill Mountains. These provide a wealth of year-round outdoor activities. Rochester also provides excellent access to advanced educational, medical, and cultural resources. Marketing Communications Intern

We’re looking for a digital marketing communications intern to join our team for the summer.

Our company has amazing people, a fabulous reputation in our markets, an exceptional track record, and a drive to re-energize our brand. That means lots of marketing projects on deck — big and small — where you can make a difference. 

This position is for current juniors or seniors studying marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field at an area college. It is a paid internship with flexible start and end dates from May thru September. Full time preferred, but if you are exceptional, we can be flexible.

    (Lead Mobile) Senior Staff Software Engineer – Client Applications

    Are you passionate about designing and delivering intuitive applications across different platforms that make complex operations simple for their users?

    Are you a strong technical team leader – someone who has both the technical chops to be a major contributor to the design and implementation of applications and the leadership skills to provide day-to-day direction within the team?

    We are looking to add a Senior Staff Engineer to our Applications Development team. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the ideal candidate will have the technical skills, experience and vision to lead the definition and development of Sigma Client UC Mobile and Desktop applications.

    Responsibilities:

    • Guide product definition, design and development activities across the full range of REDCOM products with a concentration on Sigma Client Mobile and Desktop applications.
    • Develop functional requirements based on high level requirements and feature descriptions as specified by Product Management and Sales.
    • Design, implement and test applications across Android, Windows and iOS.
    • Produce schedules and budgets for assigned product development activities based on resources, work estimates, and business needs.
    • Provide direct oversight for team members – define and assign tasks, track progress, provide mentoring/coaching, conduct performance reviews.
    • Coordinate group efforts with other departments and functions including Product Management, Product Validation, Sales, and Customer Service.
    • Investigate and evaluate technologies and methodologies and apply them within the product development team.

    Skills and Requirements:

    • Highly motivated with strong communication, time management, and leadership skills.
    • Expert level knowledge in one or more of the following: Android, iOS or Windows application development using Java, Swift, C, C++, C#, or Objective C.
    • Strong technical acumen and practical experience designing and developing application software solutions, preferably for telecommunications.
    • Demonstrated experience leading and motivating development teams of varying size through the software development lifecycle.
    • Produces quality products on time and within budget.
    • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects utilizing internal and external resources.
    • Expertise using standard Project Management, Productivity, Software Configuration Management, and Bug Tracking software packages.
    • BS or higher in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
    • Fifteen (15) or more years of professional experience with the software development lifecycle: product specification, design, implementation, validation, release, and maintenance.

    Additional Desired Qualifications:

    • Experience with VoIP – SIP, XMPP, or other computer telephony and chat protocols
    • TCP/IP and networking technologies and protocols
    • Experience in security and encryption

      Quality Engineer

      Essential Functions

      • Achieve optimal levels of quality, reliability, and consistency for all processes and products in order to provide cost-effective solutions that meet customer and applicable regulatory requirements.
      • Responsible for leading and maintaining a certified ISO9001:2015 Quality Management System.
      • Develop the documentation needed in order to demonstrate the effective planning, operation and control of processes and the implementation and continual improvement of the effectiveness of the QMS.
      • Develop quality standards, work instructions, inspection procedures, and test procedures.
      • Evaluate and verify product performance against customer specifications, then establish root cause and develop/implement corrective actions for any defects or failures.
      • Enhance customer satisfaction through effective system application and continuous improvement.
      • Be involved in all product and process reviews to understand the design intent and offer suggestions in order to obtain the highest level of reliability inherent to the product or process.
      • Implement appropriate measures throughout the organization in order to understand undesirable trends and suggest the necessary adjustments to improve.
      • Coordinate the deployment of new processes and train employees.
      • Monitor collected data utilizing a centralized database and communicate results on a regular basis in order to visualize performance.
      • Utilize the appropriate software in order to provide customers with an accurate understanding of products’ measures of reliability.
      • Communicate internal and field performance data to operations management on a regular basis.

      Education & Experience Requirements

      • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from one of the following fields: Quality, Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Electrical.
      • Lean and/or Six Sigma certification. In lieu of certification, must have demonstrable experience in the application of various Lean and Six Sigma tools that have improved manufacturing processes.
      • Experience or specialized training in thru-hole and surface mount (SMT) assembly processes associated with printed circuit board assembly.
      • ERP system proficiency
      • MS Office proficiency
      • MS SharePoint proficiency

      Critical Skills

      • Ability to multitask and interface effectively across all levels of the organization in order to meet the daily demands of internal and external customers
      • Willingness to continuously improve and learn new skills
      • Manufacturing process development and the capture of such procedures in written documentation
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities along with time management and organization skills

      Other Duties

      • Evaluate and set standards for supplier quality.
      • Assists in the identification and qualification of suppliers and acts in the capacity of Supplier Quality Engineer to ensure incoming product quality.

      Special Working Conditions

      • Typically, a one shift operation. However, there are some requirements to work extra hours when the demand cycle requires it.
      • Production environment is driven by customer delivery dates. There are times when a customer may have an urgent need and, if possible, we will work to help them in any way we can.

      Physical Requirements

      • May require significant lengths of time standing at the various pieces of equipment, in order to collect data and/or troubleshoot operations.
      • Cross functional activities are very prevalent in the REDCOM environment, specifically to eliminate repetitive activities.
      • Travel can vary based on customer demands, but is typically 5% and encompasses training, vendor, supplier, and customer meetings.
