2011 Season Summary

2011 marked the beginning of the Grand Am Continental Sports Car Challenge for the REDCOM sponsored BERG Racing cars. With the start of the season at Daytona, the #40 ST RX-8 ended its short life in turn 2, only 7 laps into the race after moving from 24th place to 10th. The subsequent ST Porsche Boxter was tested and run successfully in New Jersey in July and at Mid Ohio in October.

In September of 2011, Dinah Gueldenpfennig Weisberg, VP of Planning and Government Program Administration at REDCOM, raced the 1998 Ferrari 355 Challenge to raise funds for Hillside Children's Center in two sprint races and a 1.5 hour enduro.

2011 wrapped up with several wins at Watkins Glen International Raceway, including a whopping 1 lap lead at the end of the 4-hour enduro in the REDCOM badged Porsche boxter, co-driven by John Weisberg and Dinah Gueldenpfennig Weisberg. Dinah also raced the two-time championship IMSA Lites L2 DSR, starting last and finishing 3rd.

2010 Season Summary

REDCOM Laboratories Inc. is proud to announce that REDCOM-sponsored race cars had a very successful 2010 race season, culminating in two high profile events at world famous tracks.

John Weisberg, driving the REDCOM/Solar Stik/BERG Racing Cooper Tires Prototype Lites WEST racecar, clinched the series championship after two nail-biting races at Road Atlanta October 1st and 2nd. The REDCOM-badged car entered the final 2-race event 5 points behind in the championship. Weisberg would need to drive at his best to remain a contender. It started well, with Weisberg qualifying 1st for race 1, with the points leader Lee Alexander starting 3rd. Weisberg would lead every lap but the last to finish a heartbreaking 2nd. But Alexander, finishing 7th, handed the championship lead to John. Weisberg would now only need to finish ahead of Alexander in the second race to become the champion. The REDCOM car started race 2 from 2nd place but shortly took the lead and won handily, taking the team and driver championship titles in the process. This is the second year in a row that the BERG Racing/REDCOM crew has brought the title home. "It's great to win the championship again for me and the team but it's also a pleasure to represent REDCOM, as well as have the support of Solar Stik," said Weisberg.

Be sure to visit the Cooper Tires Prototype Lites web site for the full story on John Weisberg's victory.

Also, on September 10-12, Dinah Gueldenpfennig, VP Planning and Government Program Administration at REDCOM, drove the REDCOM/BERG Racing Ferrari 355 Challenge at Watkins Glen International during the SVRA (Sportscar Vintage Racing Association) Glenora US Vintage Grand Prix. She finished 2nd in class during the one hour enduro on September 11 and 2nd in class during a 30 minute sprint the same day, followed by 3rd overall during a sprint race in the rain on Sunday. The race entry was used to raise money for Hillside Children's center.

"REDCOM is very proud to be a sponsor of this racing effort and to have our company logo appear side by side with Hillside Children's Center logo," said Klaus Gueldenpfennig, President of REDCOM. Hillside Family of Agencies is a family and children services organization that provides child welfare, mental health, youth development, juvenile justice, special education, and developmental disabilities services across central and western New York. The event raised over $3,000 for the organization. This was calculated based on the number of laps completed, multiplied by the dollar amount pledged. "It was an honor to race to raise money for Hillside, and an honor to represent REDCOM in doing so," said Dinah.
